Nikki Clarke, M.S., CCC-SLP
& Craniosacral Therapist in Training
Clarke Communication Services is a privately owned speech therapy practice located in Central Maryland
Nikki Clarke has been practicing as a Speech-Language Pathologist for more than 25 years. She is a Maryland Licensed, ASHA certified Speech Pathologist and has formal training in Orofacial Myology.
Nikki prides herself in working very closely with families to achieve optimal results as quickly as possible. Caregivers and parents will learn techniques and strategies that they can integrate into their daily lives and implement immediately. Nikki's main goal is to provide the highest quality services that meet the needs of the entire family and help client's achieve maximum success.
Our goal is to help your child improve his or her nutritional intake in a safe and nurturing environment. Nikki utilizes systematic sensory, oral motor, and positive behavioral approaches to treatment of feeding and picky eating disorders.
Nikki is trained in PROMPT, TalkTools Oral Placement Therapy, and Kaufman-Apraxia programs. Her training in Orofacial Myology is essential in remediating the R, S, Z, CH, J and SH sound errors (if your child has been in therapy for many years to remediate these sounds, he/she likely has a myofunctional disorder! This won't be corrected until underlying muscle dysfunction is corrected.)
Our goal is to normalize resting postures of the tongue, eliminate tongue thrust, and improve swallowing functioning. Orofacial myological treatment is effective in preventing orthodontic relapse. This therapy is ESSENTIAL for Pre-and post- frenectomy!
Nikki is skilled at treating language based learning disorders, expressive and receptive disorders, and pragmatic language disorders. She is trained in the Verbal Behavior approach (among others) for assisting individuals with ASD in improving communication.
Oral function cannot be separated from the whole body. The goal is to create space, strength, flexibility, and stability in the body in order to create space, stability, and typical function in the neck, head, jaw and oral structures. Many oral therapies fail because of the weakness & instability in the body.
Nikki is trained in myofascial release and craniosacral modalities. The goal is improved mobility, symmetry, coordination and strength in the structures necessary for respiration, phonation, articulation, resonance and swallowing.
"Nikki helped me ease my discomfort in my jaw and fascial tension. She also took time to listen to me and see that I needed a frenectomy- which NO ONE in my whole 25 years of life realized. She supported me through the process and recovery and was flexible in how we met, seeing me both on Zoom and in-person depending on my location. I can't express how helpful and thoughtful Nikki is in her care. She also recommended alternative ways to ease tension in my body through different kinds of full-body movements. She also considers how gender, culture, and lifestyle impact our movements in tension. I feel lucky to have been able to have experienced her expertise and care!! She is THE BEST. Hands down."
Mrs. Clarke is the highest caliber clinician. I bring my son to her for speech therapy services and have been blown away by her clinical expertise and compassion. My son has progressed tremendously under her care. Our family is incredibly blessed to have met her and we are indebted to her for the skilled guidance she has provided our precious child. I recommend Mrs. Clarke highly for all my friends and family.
